The beauty in these things. Through installation, sculpture, and print, I try to capture the ephemeral beauty that once existed in the world of boundaries — or the beauty that lurks at the margins of conscious and unconscious minds.
Studio practice rooted in yohaku — the Japanese idea of meaningful pause — applied to contemporary culture, civic space, and brand transformation.

Mara Ishikawa works across contemporary art and strategic design. Educated in sociology and spatial design, she builds projects where memory, silence, and civic narrative intersect.
As a designer, she leads integrated branding programs spanning identity, digital, spatial, and editorial systems for cultural institutions, public agencies, and independent labels.
As an artist, her installations and prints have been shown in Kyoto, Berlin, Portland, and Singapore. Recent work examines residue, voice, and the aesthetics of what almost became visible.
She lectures on design and cultural policy, contributes to broadcast commentary, and publishes essays on margin-thinking in creative practice.
